Why Do Dogs Follow Us to the Bathroom?

Your dog is lying down on her favorite blanket just relaxing or maybe she is chewing on a toy.  Nature calls upon you and you get up to go to the bathroom. Your dog jumps up and follow you immediately to the bathroom and waits outside the door.

Does this happen in your home? Does your dog follow you to the bathroom or does she follow someone else in your home? Why do dogs follow us to the bathroom?

Some dogs just love to be around us all the time. Some dogs are just curious and want to know what is going on. For others, it may be something else. Dogs have an animal instinct or what we call a pack mentality.  Your dog can be following you to protect you.  Your dog may see you as part of their pack and want to keep you safe. Dogs who do this are referred to as “Velcro dogs,” this is because of their desire to be attached to your side.

Whatever, the true reason, think of it as a sign of love.  They know you are going to be occupied and they just want to make sure you are okay.
