Love your pet but hate the shedding

It's that time of year.  Do you find pet hair everywhere, and I mean everywhere. Do you often wonder with all the hair on your clothes, couch, bed and even tub, how your pet is not bald. Shedding is most pet owners’ number one complaint.
Our furry friends shed to get rid of old, damaged, or extra hair. They grow a heavy coat in the winter to help insulate themselves and then shed the extra hair in the summer. Long-haired dogs, such as Afghan hounds and poodles, shed less than shorter-haired varieties. Some double-coated, serious shedders include the Akita, American Eskimo, Collie, German Shepherd, Great Pyrenees, Newfoundland, Belgian Sheepdog, Labrador retrievers and pugs.

Here is a list of ways to control and even minimize shedding.

Brush dogs and cats regularly. Most dogs and cats benefit from a daily brushing. Utilize tools such as shedding blades and grooming gloves. Groom pets outside, garage or in a laundry room to contain flyaway fur.
Vacuum carpets, furniture and car upholstery, using pet vacuums with HEPA filters and motorized brushes for allergen removal and for pet hair pick-up. The Swiffer Sweeper is a great tool for daily fur removal because the dry cloth picks up 50 percent more dust, dirt and hair than a regular broom. A slightly dampened sponge works wonders to pick up pet hair from upholstered furniture and tufts of fur on carpets. For hardwood furniture and counter tops, try a Swiffer Duster, which grabs fur that feather dusters can just spread around.
Shampoo at least once a week. Use an Olive shampoo or Oatmeal shampoo and be aggressive when washing, get a good scrub in. FURminator de Shedding Shampoo is great as well as 8 in 1 Perfect Coat Shed Control Shampoo for Dogs.
Add vitamin A and E, Omega 3, Omega 6 fish oils and Linoleic Acid to their diet.
Keep closet doors closed, so hair can’t travel in.
Keep upholstered furniture covered with easy-to-launder throws and blankets.
    Invest in lint brushes.
