The Bichon Frise (pronounced BEE-shawn FREE-say; the plural is Bichons Frises) is a small dog breed who tends to be cheerful, with a love of mischief and a lot of love to give. With her black eyes and fluffy white coat, the Bichon looks almost like a child’s toy.

History:  The American Kennel Club (AKC) states The Bichon Frise descended from the Barbet or Water Spaniel, from which came the name "Barbichon", later shortened to "Bichon". The Bichons were divided into four categories: the Bichon Maltais, the Bichon Bolognais, the Bichon Havanais and the Bichon Teneriffe. All originated in the Mediterranean area. The Bichon Frise has been referred to as "merry" and "cheerful".
